Thanksgiving 2019

In 2019 Hope is excited to partner with you to expand our Thanksgiving Food Distribution Program! This year clients will be eligible for their normal November Food Pantry appointment PLUS a special box of Thanksgiving items they can pick up the week before the holiday.
To get involved or for more information please contact Food Program Manager Emmeline at 734-484-2989 or eweinert@thehopeclinic.org

There are several ways to help and make sure that everyone in our community has a full table this Thanksgiving.

  1. Hold a supply drive to stock Hope’s shelves: We want to make sure that each client who makes a pantry appointment in the month of November leaves with full bags and all the items they need to keep their family well fed all month. You can donate staples like cereal, pasta, canned soup, peanut butter and non-food groceries like paper towel and dish soap. You can also donate holiday items like cranberry sauce and stuffing mix (see list below) and cooking basics like spices, cooking oil, etc. We rely on these food drives to keep our shelves well stocked.

  2. Prepare Thanksgiving Boxes: On the Friday and Monday before Thanksgiving (11/22 and 11/25), we will have special distribution times that clients can sign up for to get a prepacked box of Thanksgiving goodies and one turkey (various sizes welcomed). We need to prepare 120 boxes (to be delivered the night before or morning of distribution.
Can our church commit to donating and preparing 10-20 boxes?
    Each box should have:
    1 Frozen Turkey
1 can of gravy (or packet dry mix)
    1 box instant mashed potatoes
    1 box stuffing mix
    1 can cranberry sauce
    2 cans green beans
    1 can french fried unions
1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 can pumpkin/pie filling
    1 crust/bake mix
2 cans other vegetable (carrots, corn, peas, etc).

You are welcome to donate other Thanksgiving favorites like Yams, marshmallow, mac & cheese, corn bread mix, apple cider, etc. These items will go in the pantry during the month for clients to choose for themselves. We would like the boxes to be consistent.

  3. Volunteer: Before and during our Thanksgiving box distribution times we need your help.
For each of these times we need at least 10 volunteers:
    Thursday 11/21 - Food drop off and organization 6:30pm - 8:30pm
    Friday 11/22 - Food Distribution 8:30am-12:30pm
    Sunday 11/24 - Food drop off and organization 6:30pm - 8:30pm
    Monday 11/25 - Food Distribution 8:30am-12:30pm

Hope will again be partnering with Arbor Bridge and the Covenant Pastors Group to support their Thanksgiving distributions in the community. Together we are making sure that EVERYONE who asks gets the supplies they need to have a full table this Thanksgiving.
