We need you to fill a gap in our community! People are hungry and need our help.
Ypsilanti has recently lost two free meals for those in need. Hope has made a commitment to address this need and provide free weeknight meals on Monday and Thursday at 5pm in addition to our current 4pm meals on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

In order to do this we are looking for meal teams to assist in preparing, serving and cleaning up after meals. We are starting with a temporary program beginning ASAP and running through Thursday, January 9th., 2020. We anticipate around 40 people at these meals and some meal preparation expectations are below.

Dates:

First Monday: October 7, November 4, December 2 and January 6
First Thursday: October 3, November 7 and December 5 and January 2
Second Monday: October 14, November 11, December 9 and January 9
Second Thursday: October 10, November 14 and December 12
Third Monday: October 21, November 18, December 16
Third Thursday: October 17, November 21 and December 19
Fourth Monday: October 28, November 25 and December 23
Fourth Thursday: October 24, November 28 and December 26
Fifth Monday: September 30, December 30
Fifth Thursday: October 31

Weeknight meal preparation - Depending on your team size and expertise we can work with you to make preparation manageable and give the community the nutritious meal they need.

Simplified: 2-3 people. 2 hour preparation.
Food Gatherers can provide frozen pans of entrée that we will thaw in the fridge before your meal day. Meal team would be responsible for heating the entrée, making a salad, and putting out rolls/bread and beverages. The team is invited to also prepare a side dish. Hope has a meal pantry with things like canned vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, etc. For every meal we provide salad fixings and rolls, as well as dessert when available.

Full Meal prep: 3-6 people. 2-4 hour preparation.
Hope will provide bulk meat and kitchen team has full access to the meal closet which is stocked with things like bulk canned vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, etc. The team is invited to prepare an entrée and sides that include a protein, starch and vegetable for our clients. Hope also provides salad fixings, and rolls as well as dessert when available.
All teams are invited to plan their own meal and bring their own ingredients. Our kitchen is well equipped with spices and other condiments as well.
