How do you measure a better life?
At Hope Clinic, we recently published our 2023 Annual Report with this question at the center. While some organizations prioritize output—how many patients did you see? how many units of service did you deliver?—at Hope Clinic, we also value outcomes—how much better could we make it? how is our community doing as a result of partnering with us?
Outcomes can be communicated through data—like the 117,000 requests for help that Hope answered last year—but they really come alive through stories. So to celebrate your impact as a Hope Clinic supporter, we thought we’d share some stories with you.
Consider the family that came in just hours before Thanksgiving. They had just transitioned out of homelessness, but their cupboards were empty. They needed food! Unfortunately our annual Thanksgiving Bag distribution was over, and there wasn’t a pantry appointment available before the holiday. But—praise God!—just minutes before this family came in, a latecomer had dropped off an extra turkey and fixings. Because of the power of God working through people in the Hope Clinic community, this family celebrated a Thanksgiving meal in their new apartment! Plus, while they were here, our Patient Advocate helped connect them with additional services that could help them. How’s that for an outcome? How would we ever measure that? Your support creates these immeasurable opportunities for blessing.
Or consider the story of a recent medical patient who lost her insurance in the middle of a critical treatment. She was facing huge obstacles, including the extraction of nearly all of her teeth. She shared with the medical team how afraid she and helpless she felt. Because Hope Clinic offers integrated care, the patient was able to move seamlessly from the Medical Clinic to the Dental Clinic, where she received free treatment and healthcare navigation, getting her back on a path toward feeling well. With your help, our goal is to empower patients with what they need in order to take their next step of sustainable life change. This outcome-focused approach means life isn’t just made better today, but from this day forward.
None of these stories are possible without partnership: people and groups like you who believe that no one should have to struggle to get their basic needs met. We are so grateful for your support!
Next up, you’ll see our Annual Report. Even if numbers can’t tell the whole story; we know that each data point represents a person, made in the image of God, receiving help and healing in Jesus’ name. Your support, when woven together with the support and partnership of many others, becomes the safety net that our neighbors need. We are deeply grateful, and extrememly proud to share these numbers and these stories with each of you, who, together, make it all possible.
Thank you!
