Dcn. Dan Foley - Chairman – Deacon Dan is a retired executive and attorney who held positions at Masco Corporation, Domino’s Pizza, and TSM Computing Group among others. He serves as a deacon at Christ the King Catholic Church and is active in their Upper Room ministry. Deacon Dan has served on a variety of charitable and professional boards and is currently Chairman of the Board of Renewal Ministries.
Rick Hendricks – Vice Chairman — Rick is a CPA who recently retired as a partner with Rehmann, a regional accounting and wealth management firm. Over his 43 years working career he also held partner positions with Deloitte and Wright Griffin Davis. He has served in volunteer leadership positions in his parish and numerous community based organizations including most recently as president of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.
Andy Arizala - Treasurer – In 2005 Andy retired from owning and operating a small software company that specialized in developing financial software for small local governments. Since then he has been active at Hope as a volunteer handyman, member of the Board, and Treasurer of the Board. He also serves on the Ways and Means and Audit committees of the Board.
Andy is a long-time member the University Lutheran Chapel. Dr. Dan Heffernan served as their family physician before he founded Hope Medical Clinic. Andy and his late wife, Anne, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2015, and they have two children and five grandchildren.
Rev. George W. Waddles, Jr.- Pastor Waddles serves as Pastor of Second Baptist Church of Ypsilanti. He is married to his best friend and the love of his life, Angela (Rogers) Waddles and the Lord has blessed them with three wonderful children: Erin, Zachary and Andrew. He became a Christian and was baptized at the Ninth Street Baptist Church of Lawrence, Kansas on April 11, 1977. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from Truman State University, a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master of Educational Administration from Texas A&M – Texarkana. Pastor Waddles has served as a lecturer and instructor for the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, the Wolverine State Baptist Convention and Huron Valley Baptist District Association. He currently serves as President of the Huron Valley District Congress of Christian Education. He is also the Secretary of the Ypsilanti – Ann Arbor and Vicinity Ministerial Alliance. Acts 11:24 is his life verse “For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.”
Alonzo Lewis - Alonzo is president of St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and St. Joseph Mercy Livingston hospitals. Previously, Lewis was a chief operating officer and senior vice president of operations at St. Joe’s. Prior to joining Saint Joseph Mercy, he served as vice president, Women and Children’s Services and Business Development at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He has been active with many community organizations. He earned his bachelor’s degree and his Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan. Alonzo and his wife Suzanne attend NorthRidge Church.
Dr. Hana Yosief, DDS — Dr. Hana M. Yosief holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Windsor, and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College. She was named to the National Deans List as well as inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Society, an honor reserved for the top ten highest academically ranked dental students.
Dr. Yosief is a recipient of the Best of Oral surgery award, Best of Prosthodontics award, and the Pathology Research Award. Dr. Yosief has lived in several countries and is fluent in six languages, enabling her to provide compassionate care to patients from almost any background.
Dr. Yosief’s favorite Bible verse is Luke 12:48, “to whom much is given, much will be required,” and she seeks to live out that sense of gratitude and conviction in all areas of her life. In her free time, Dr. Yosief enjoys spending time with her large family, exercising, reading, biking, and traveling.
Dorothy Elliott, RN – Secretary – While Dottie has worked as a medical transcriptionist since 2014, most of her professional career was spent in nursing. When she was on the University of Michigan School of Nursing faculty, Dottie learned about Hope Clinic as part of an assignment she gave to her students. This planted the seed for her to someday be involved in Hope’s work.
That time came when Dottie retired from U-M in 2008, and Hope’s executive director asked if she would consider joining Hope’s board. Dottie’s love for the Lord and desire to do volunteer work for a Christian non-profit led her to accept the invitation. When not carrying out her duties as Board Secretary, Dottie may often be found serving at two area churches—Ann Arbor Christian Reformed and Knox Presbyterian.
Jennifer Baird – Jen is a serial entrepreneur who has led several Michigan-based healthcare technology startups. Currently, she is the Founder and CEO of Fifth Eye Inc., a company developing software that performs analytics on patient data. Earlier in her career, Jen worked in the fields of commercial banking, technology development, and life science research. She received her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BA degree from the University of Michigan.
Jen considers it a privilege to serve on Hope’s board. She notes that “God’s passion for serving the poor is a Biblical imperative, and Hope Clinic is a place where patients/clients, volunteers, and staff all come together in such a wonderful way to promote health, wholeness, and dignity for all involved.” Jen is a member of 242 Community Church.
Jill Fenske, MD – Jill is a family physician who sees patients at the University of Michigan Chelsea Health Center, where she also serves as medical director. She has been a volunteer at Hope Clinic since 2007. Jill and her family are members of the Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church. She appreciates the holistic approach to health at Hope Clinic and loves seeing the care and kindness shared by clients and volunteers each day.
Lynn Stella – Lynn is a retired Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, having worked in Ann Arbor and in Detroit, where she was on the faculty of the HFH/UofD/Mercy School of Anesthesia.
She has been an avid supporter of our community on many levels. Lynn was a prior board member of the philanthropic arm of Catholic Social Services, involved with Hope Clinic International, ArborWoman, and she continues to be an active volunteer on the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Development Committee, highlighted by chairmanship of the SJMH ’15 Holiday Ball raising over $1 million for expansion of their new cancer center.
Lynn has been involved at Hope Clinic for many years and from 2009-2012, she and her husband, Phil, helped to co-chair the “Campaign for One Hope”, raising $3 million, allowing for the relocation and expansion of Hope facilities to the one central campus it is today.
Lynn and Phil have 5 children and 1 grandchild. They are members of St. Mary’s Student Chapel, Ann Arbor. Lynn says that it is an honor and privilege to serve on the board of this worthy organization, carrying out its mission of serving those most in need in our community.
