Post #7 : Detour Direction Changing Soon!

The road reconstruction project is moving along well.  Until recently the weather has been cooperating enabling crews to avoid potential delays.  However, the recent rains did cause a bit of a delay this week.

The concrete work is complete on the north side of the street.  This is good news because it makes parking lots access a bit easier than it has been for the last couple of weeks.  The other bit of good news is that I requested the foreman to have the several deep potholes on the side we all drive on filled with crushed limestone, and that was done this morning.  The suspensions on our cars will indeed thank us for that! 

The other bit of good news is the asphalt schedule.  The original schedule had tomorrow to begin to laying asphalt.  However, the recent rains did cause a bit of a delay, and so this has been postponed to this Saturday.   Crews should be able to lay two layers on the complete north side of Harriet all on Saturday (August 15).  Because it will be done on a Saturday, it should eliminate a great deal of potential detours while the asphalt is being laid. 

And finally looking ahead, (barring any weather delays), next week on 8/19 or 8/20, crews will close Perry Street (through the 28th) in order to stage / store large equipment in the street.  Perry St. is the street that runs north / south next to Perry Elementary School.   At the same time, Harriet St. will switch one way direction from the current east bound direction, to west bound.  Signs will be modified when this happens.
