Construction has begun, and West-bound Harriet St. is closed. Traffic is one-way, East-bound. As you drive by, you can see the big holes being dug along the closed side of the street, and where they’ve exposed the old water main for removal! They’re working from west to east, so most of the heavy machinery is currently between Hawkins and Burton Ct.
Hope Clinic is still accessible, and will be throughout the project. To get to Hope Clinic, use Michigan Avenue to access either First Street or Hawkins Street. You can use either one to turn onto Harriet East-bound and arrive at Hope Clinic. (see diagram below)
Street parking is not available on Harriet, but you can use Hope Clinic’s lots and street parking on nearby streets.
How to help:
We know that the detours might deter some donors. Summer is always a low time for food pantry donations, but a high time for food need. This construction will likely amplify that trend. We will need your help, brave partners, to continue providing an abundant and dignified food pantry experience to our neighbors in need. Consider hosting a food drive in your neighborhood, workplace, or house of worship to help us continue meeting. the need!
Thank you for your patience with these disruptions, and your support as we work toward a community where help is never out of reach.
